(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa-based Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Friday named President Gary Paxton to the additional post of chief executive officer.

Paxton will replace the retiring Joseph Cappy as CEO of the car-rental company.

Cappy is giving up the positions of CEO and chairman of the board on October 1st but will remain on the board until the end of the year.

The company's board says it decided to split the jobs of chairman and chief executive in accordance with ``best governance practices.''
