Should "God" be allowed in Oklahoma public schools in the form of a four-word poster that says "In God We Trust
Those 4-words are sparking quite a debate. Oklahomans for Patriotic Values has handed out 5,000 of the posters. Guthrie is the latest school district to get them. Many parents like the idea. But the group Americans United for the Separation of Church and State says the signs violate the Constitution.
Parent Sarah Raid, "In God we trust, we all should trust in God and I believe we need more of God in schools today."
Jim Huff with Americans United, "They've got all kinds of secular reasons for putting it up, but the real intent is to somehow put the word God in the classroom and allow teachers to discuss it."
Schools in 26 Oklahoma counties now display the posters. Broken Arrow is one of about a dozen districts in the Tulsa area allowing the signs to be put up.
