It's a sad day for us here at the News on 6; we've lost a member of our family. You all knew him as the "Soap Swami" a wry, cynical, and very irreverent presenter of the daily comings and goings on the TV soaps, Oprah and Dr. Phil.

To us, Paul Shushkewitch was a friend, someone we could count on to make us laugh. He died suddenly and very unexpectedly Thursday morning.

For more than a decade he has shared with us his big heart and wonderful sense of humor. We counted on him to make us smile even when the news was bad. And for us today, this is very bad news indeed; we wish he were here to make us smile. We will miss him.

Paul is survived by his wife Debbie, two sons and a daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with them today.
