(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A commission has been appointed to help protect Oklahoma's military bases during another round of base closures in 2005.

Governor Brad Henry says Oklahoma is one of only seven states that haven't lost a military base as part of the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 1988.

But the governor says the state is taking nothing for granted.

Henry appointed five of the panel's seven members. The others were picked by the House Speaker Larry Adair and Senate President Pro Tem Cal Hobson.

The governor's office says 97 bases across the country have been closed since 1988.
