(Eakly-AP) -- Hog farming operations are getting less smelly, thanks to a biological system that helps eliminate odors.
The system is called Biozyme Waste and Odor Control and is manufactured by partners A-C Dromgoole of Rocky and Stan Irving of Hays, Kansas.
With the system, odor-causing waste is biodegraded in a lagoon using a combination of aerobic microbes, soap and neutralizer.
More than 40 operations in Oklahoma and Texas use the system.
Max Boothe, co-owner of Top Hog in Cordell, says he's happy with the system and his neighbors are, too.
Dromgoole said the success of the system is the combination of an effective product plus the willingness of farm managers to follow proper cleaning procedures.
