(Lawton-AP) -- Senator Don Nickles says he doesn't think Altus Air Force Base and Fort Sill at Lawton have any reason to worry about the next round of military base closings.

Nickles toured both southwestern Oklahoma bases yesterday while Congress is in recess for the Fourth of July.

A new round of base realignments and closings is to begin in 2005.

Oklahoma is home to five military installations and state and community leaders have been taking steps to keep each off any potential closure list.

Nickles says he thinks all military installations in Oklahoma will survive the next round of closings and realignments.
