(Lawton-AP) -- Family and friends have welcomed home 171 Fort Sill soldiers.
Soldiers of the 75th Field Artillery Brigade were treated to a short ceremony Wednesday before catching up with loved ones.
Colonel Rich McPhee says that although the soldiers helped make history and did their jobs in Kuwait and Iraq well, yesterday wasn't about history, it was about the soldiers.
Family members of Specialist Faith Traylor drove from Birmingham, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida, to be there for her return.
Her mother, Cathy Traylor, says the long drive wasn't a concern.
The homecoming had been scheduled and rescheduled at least once, but the Traylors took the delay in stride.
Wednesday was also the first birthday of Faith Traylor's son, Jaylen.
Cathy Traylor says being away from Jaylen was probably the hardest part for her daughter.
