Friday some local folks honored America's fallen soldiers by raising the red, white and blue.

ROTC cadets from Tulsa area schools gathered at Broken Arrow's Floral Haven Cemetery Friday to help families and volunteers raise more than 2,000 American flags.

Each flag honors a deceased veteran, including two servicemen who were killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. For some volunteers like Virginia Mattocks - whose father served in World War II - the tribute isn't just patriotic, it's also personal. Volunteer, Virginia Mattocks, "I think it brings us closer together and I think it's special for everyone this year, but it's always been special for me."

This is the 31st anniversary of Floral Haven's flag tribute. The cemetery has several other events scheduled for this weekend.
