(Washington-AP) -- An Oklahoma Marine is among the four Marines killed Monday in a helicopter crash in Iraq.

27-year-old Staff Sergeant Aaron Dean White of Shawnee died when the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed into a canal shortly after takeoff on a resupply mission.

White and the three other Marines were assigned to the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 of the Third Marine Aircraft Wing out of Camp Pendleton, California.

A fifth Marine drowned trying to save the others.

U-S Central Command says the helicopter crashed in the Shat al-Hillah Canal near the city of Hillah, about 60 miles south of Baghdad.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
