VELMA, Okla. (AP) _ Storms hit southern Oklahoma early Wednesday and a possible tornado was reported near Velma, east of Duncan in Stephens County.

No injuries were reported.

``Power lines are down at Velma, but it is not a confirmed tornado,'' sheriff's dispatcher Jim Minter said.

Hail and high water along with power outages were reported in Carter County.

``Lone Grove had half-dollar-size hail that tore up some trailer houses,'' Carter County Emergency Management Director Chester Agan said.

The basement of a hospital in Ardmore was flooded and some city streets had up to 6 feet of water because of hail blocking the drainage system, Agan said.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported nearly 1,300 customers without power, most of those in the Ardmore and Madill areas.
