(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A measure approved by the state Senate means postponement of pay raises for county election board secretaries.
The raises would have ranged from $800 to more than $9,300.
The increases were approved by the 2002 Legislature and were scheduled to go into effect Thursday.
But senators voted 43-0 Tuesday for the conference committee report for Senate Bill 175.
Senator Mike Morgan of Stillwater says the raises would have required the expenditure of $240,000 in state revenue in the coming fiscal year.
The measure now goes to the House, where Speaker Larry Adair says he's sure it will be passed.
