Almost all consumers are trying to watch their dollars a little more carefully these days.
So, to give you a little inspiration, News on Six anchor Terry Hood traveled to Atlanta recently to meet one of the country's most famous cheapskates. “Its six minutes after the hour, welcome to the Clark Howard Show." Three and a half million people hear Clark Howard every day, all tuning in for advice and encouragement on how to be a smart consumer.
And apparently, we need the help. Clark says while the nations current recession isn't as serious as the one we saw 12 years ago; the callers he's hearing from are in much deeper distress.
"The difference from 12 years ago is that people are living with much higher levels of debt today. And that debt, when you lose a job, what are you going to do. Those bills don't stop just you're unemployed.†Terry Hood: "So people are much more vulnerable now." Clark Howard: "Exactly. Of all incomes, that's what's so crazy.â€
