(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Some Oklahoma residents are worried a Kansas landfill will taint their water supply.
Waste Connections is working to build a landfill in Harper County, Kansas, near the Chikaskia River.
The river supplies water to thousands of northern Oklahoma residents in Blackwell.
The landfill would take trash from Wichita, which is now being trucked into daily to an Oklahoma landfill.
The Kansas Department of Health is still reviewing the permit applications.
Lawmakers from that area have filed legislation opposing the building of a landfill.
