Some children on the home front in northeast Oklahoma have gotten a lesson in war without picking up a history book.
Laura Elmore shared stories about her 19-year-old son Kenny with 4th graders at Westwood Elementary in Broken Arrow. Kenny is a Marine with Broken Arrow's Reserve Tow unit.
Laura showed pictures of him in action in Iraq and read his letters to the students. She also talked to them about freedom. "Kids your age and younger, taken away from families, that's why these men and women are here."
Elmore's son is part of the Marines 223rd regiment which is made up of several thousand members.
