Commuters on US highway 75 on their way to work Tuesday morning suffered some traffic snarling headaches.

From the highway, the danger looked far away, but danger was in the smoke and no one was taking any chances. A portion of Highway 75 was closed off between 121st to 141st Street South. Motorists heading south on 75 had to take the Creek Turnpike or Highway 117. Those heading the other way also took the Creek Turnpike or Highway 67.

"Only people we can allow to go in here are residents." Glenpool Police blocked off every intersection only allowing residents to get through if needed. “You might have to go into Bixby and turn back around." Because firefighters recommended residents leave the area, the streets of Glenpool became somewhat of a ghost town. “Several businesses were advised to close for the day because of the fire posing health concerns”

Local banks, stores, even McDonald’s were closed. But the Quik Trip across the street stayed opened. Jonathan Chorley, Quik Trip manager "We've been providing Gatorade, water and coffee, hot water for police, fire. Free of charge to help them out."
