(Oklahoma City-AP) -- State transportation commissioners have approved a project to put concrete safety barriers in the median of a six-mile stretch of Interstate 40.
The $6.9-million project will place the barriers along a stretch of the interstate in Oklahoma City. Several traffic crashes have occurred in the area involving cars crossing the median and driving into oncoming traffic.
Federal funds will pay for 90% of the construction, which is to begin in November.
