(Shawnee-AP) -- Oklahoma first lady Kim Henry is one of about 40 people serving as substitute teachers without pay in the Shawnee School District.
Henry's three children attend Shawnee schools.
Shawnee is one of several districts asking for volunteers to substitute teach without pay because of budget cuts.
Shawnee Superintendent Marilyn Bradford says Henry has taught journalism, English and science classes.
Henry taught advanced placement social studies, US history and government for several years at Shawnee High School. She resigned to help her husband's successful campaign for governor last year.
