(Tahlequah-AP) -- Plans to build a motorcycle manufacturing shop in Tahlequah have faded.

Business leaders have given up hope that Hollister, California-based Fast Trac Manufacturing will come to town. The company plans to stay on the West Coast due to the economic downturn.

Fast Trac told Tahlequah leaders in December 2001 that it would relocate and rename itself the Cherokee Motorcycle Company in honor of the Cherokee Nation. The company hoped to eventually employ 300 people.

Tahlequah Mayor Jerry Cook says another company will have to use the industrial park site set aside for Fast Trac.

Cook says others have inquired about the property.

Fast Trac had planned to break ground by March 2002 and begin operations by late July.
