Basketball fans everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief after the recent announcement that a war with Iraq won't stop March Madness.
Officials say the NCAA basketball tournament games will go on as planned. That decision came down late Tuesday afternoon after the NCAA Board of Directors met with Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.
NCAA President Myles Brand says the organization sees no reason, after those consultations, to make any alterations to the plan.
Myles Brand, NCAA President: We will go forward with our plans to play the games when and if war breaks out. We are prepared to do that on schedule in our normal venues. The overriding consideration was that we were not going to let a tyrant determine how we will lead our lives."
Brand went on to say that ONLY extraordinary situations could force changes to the schedule.
