A whirlwind of shoppers wasn't the only thing that blew through the Brookside area yesterday afternoon.

A microburst, associated with a collapsing thunderstorm, hit the area on Peoria between 41st and 51st just before 5 o'clock Tuesday evening.

Strong winds knocked down store signs, tore off roofs and broke tree branches. The damage stretched for several blocks, no injured were reported.
