OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ John Raley, a Ponca City lawyer, is Attorney General Drew Edmondson's choice to serve on the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
Raley is a former U.S. attorney in Muskogee and has served as Ponca City mayor. He was in the Navy and Navy reserves for 34 years.
He replaces Hoby Hammer of Fairview on the five-member panel, which oversees state campaign financing reports and regulates lobbyists.
Besides the attorney general, members of the commission are appointed by the governor, chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, the speaker of the Oklahoma House and president pro tem of the Senate.
``As a former U.S. attorney, John understands the need for a strong, principled and fair commission,'' Edmondson said. ``I am certain he will apply steady and unbiased judgment to all matters before him.''
