One Tulsa neighborhood is fighting to protect children after a 12 year old was killed last week.
Tuesday, they voiced their concerns to the Mayor. Neighbors walked Mayor LaFortune through the northwest Tulsa neighborhood where Michael Cook was killed chasing a pet across the street.
They want speed bumps and more stop signs to keep drivers from speeding down the road. LaFortune says a traffic engineer inspected the area after Michael's death, but decided the area didn't need more stop signs or speed bumps. But neighbors disagree. Ashli Parrish, "What if the woman that was driving, though she wasn't speeding, what if she was going slow enough to get over that speed bump it may have delayed it 4 or 5 seconds and he would be here today.â€
Tulsa Police didn't cite the driver for speeding, but the driver was ticketed for driving without a license and driving with expired tags.
LaFortune promises to address the issue at a future city council meeting.
