(Undated-AP) -- Robby Gordon is going for the Memorial Day double one more time.
The former open-wheel star says he'll drive in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 26th.
Although this will be his third try at driving eleven-hundred miles on the same day, Gordon hasn't pulled it off yet.
In 1997, rain postponed Indy. Gordon finished 35th in the stock car race on Sunday, then finished 29th in Indianapolis the following day. In 2000, a rain delay at Indy caused Gordon to miss the start of the Coca-Cola 600. P-J Jones subbed for Gordon in the stock car race, which was red-flagged due to rain after 261 laps. Gordon got into the Winston Cup car following the delay and finished 35th.
The only driver to complete the full distance in both races is fellow NASCAR star Tony Stewart, who did it in both 1999 and last May.
