Getting kids excited about reading and writing may seem like a losing battle. But one Tulsa school is taking a lesson from Gumby and winning the war with clay.
After reading fairy tales, these Riverfield Middle School students are putting together one of their own using claymation. But these eight graders aren't just playing with clay. They had to learn PowerPoint to make storyboards for their movies and learn how to shoot with digital cameras.
The project is supposed to teach kids how to work together, and hopefully provide kids with a glimpse of new career paths. Riverfield 8th grader, Kinsey Cranford: "I just think its cool and I just feel like I'm directing and filming a major motion picture or some thing like that, I just think its neat."
The Riverfield students will also learn a little about advertising. The kids will make commercials to go in-between the scenes of their claymation fairy tales.
