US food and drug officials are looking at ways to prevent terrorists from targeting the food supply.
Dan Sowards, the Chief of Food and Drug Biosecurity for the state of Texas discussed the subject at a conference in Tulsa. Sowards says food manufacturers and processing plants should be on guard, with tighter security measures to prevent agri-terror from happening. "We've attempted over the past six months to identify those areas in the farm to fork food chain which are vulnerable."
Sowards also says companies need to question their suppliers about exactly where raw materials come from, and to ask for documentation from suppliers, showing they are following strict security measures.
