Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage put all city agencies on a hiring freeze. She says the drastic measures are needed because the budget, already $11-million short, now shows an additional $3 to $5-million shortfall.
Savage's memo to the city's department heads says all full time, temporary jobs and promotions are frozen. It also puts a stop to all city travel that's not mandatory.
And, she told those department heads to make additional budget cuts, saying the city cannot end the year in a deficit.
