How cold was it this morning? Teens? Kind of makes you want to go take a golf lesson - get the swing in shape before the season starts. No? Well I went over to Brookside for a little indoor golf lesson.

Tracy Phillips and Holly Hair operate T-Town Golf. For the past few years it's been a totally indoor teaching facility off 35th and Peoria.

They use video and computer technology to teach and improve customer's golf swings.

Tracy Phillips/Golf Professional: "You have to teach people the proper movement of where the club needs to be - and then in doing that - by them seeing it."

He says most students don't realize they are making some swing mistake - until they see it. The beauty of this lies in part in the combination of camera angles. There is a camera behind, in front and overhead - all of that can be displayed and analyzed using the computer as a teaching aid.

Each phase of the swing can be zeroed in on - and picked apart - he can show a side by side comparison of my swing before and after we worked on a correction.

The "gee whiz" thing about this for me was his ability to show me a side by side comparison of the best swing and the first one.

During the session he can watch me and the computer screen and check my swing from almost any angle.

They are about to construct a new facility in Broken Arrow which will be similar to the old T-Town golf on South Mingo. The plans are to keep the current facility through July.

T-Town Golf is located at 35th & Peoria, telephone 625-6024.
