(Kansas City, Missouri-AP) -- Maybe Oklahoma and not Kansas will be the Big 12's flagship program this season.

The Number Five Sooners have won 12 straight overall, their longest streak since 1989-90. The team record is 16.

The Sooners not only beat Texas Tech 98-to-72 yesterday, they mangled the Red Raiders.

Before a sellout crowd, the Sooners took a 16-to-4 lead just five and a half minutes into the game.

Kansas, meanwhile, was squandering its new Number One ranking with a dreadful first half at U-C-L-A.

The Jayhawks shot just 34 percent and committed 16 turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

They lost 87-to-77.
