Two people die when the car they're riding in, crashes into Lake Keystone. It happened around 5 AM Tuesday, on old Highway 64, which is a remote lake access road.
A neighbor says a 15-year-old boy knocked on his door, in a panic, saying he'd driven a car into the lake and two adults were trapped inside. The neighbor says the boy smelled like liquor and admitted he'd had six beers and said the adults had been too drunk to drive. It all began, when a woman borrowed a car, saying she and a friend were going to teach the 15-year-old boy how to drive a stick shift. Jodi Hancock, "As far as I know, my daughter was asleep at 4 AM when the mother of a the friend she was spending the night with, to borrow her keys. She said yes and went back to sleep and the next thing she knew, her car was under the lake."
When OHP divers pulled the car out of the lake, they found the bodies of the man and woman. The woman had five children and had just become a grandmother.
Neighbors say this is not the first time a car has driven into the lake and they've tried for years to get a concrete barrier put across the road, but, to no avail, until Tuesday afternoon, when the US Army Corps of Engineers installed some barriers across the road.
