LOS ANGELES (AP) _ ``Ocean's Eleven'' rode a wave of ticket sales to win the weekend box office title from ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,'' which sunk to second place.
The star-powered Las Vegas casino caper film opened at No. 1, taking in $38.1 million and setting the mark for best December opening ever. ``Harry Potter'' took in $14.7 million over its fourth weekend.
The top 20 movies at North American theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. and ACNielsen EDI Inc.:
1. ``Ocean's Eleven,'' Warner Bros., $38.1 million, 3,075 locations, $12,393 average, $38.1 million, one week.
2. ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,'' Warner Bros., $14.7 million, 3,672 locations, $4,014 average, $239.7 million, four weeks.
