There have been a lot of accidents on the ice and snow. So many, Tulsa Police can't respond to all of them. So it's up to those involved to document for themselves what happened and who's to blame.

People involved in accidents can file police reports - but they often have two different versions of what happened. That's why insurance agents recommend people carefully document any accident - take pictures if possible - and exchange information with the other driver - even if it looks like there is no damage. Tulsa Police Cpl Greg Smith, "Sometimes there is a bit of a controversy and if they can't come to an agreement that's what civil court is for they can, the insurance companies or the people can file against each other and try to recover any damages they believe is due to them."

Police can issue tickets for accidents - but the insurance companies make the final call on who is to blame - and who will pay for the damage.
