(Norman) - Oklahoma center Vince Carter is learning on-the-job.
The freshman from Waco, Texas, was expected to back up junior Josh Smith. But a series of concussion knocked Smith out of the lineup and Carter has started the past three games.
Carter says he believes he's played pretty well despite making a few mistakes. He says he's also benefitting from the move of senior Howard Duncan from right guard to left tackle.
Offensive coordinator Mark Mangino says Carter's going through growing pains, but praises his enthusiasm saying he's never complained.
This week O-U and Carter take on his hometown Baylor Bears and he says the team is just working to stay focused.
