OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahomans could get a tax break on their Christmas purchases under an item added Wednesday to Gov. Frank Keating's special session call.
Keating acted on a request by Sen. Jonathan Nichols, R-Norman,
Nichols is working on details of his proposal to exempt the sales tax from certain purchases.
``Providing a sales tax holiday around Thanksgiving will give Oklahomans a break on their holiday shopping bills and a needed boost to our economy,'' he said.
The special session is in recess because of disagreements over a bill to change the workers' compensation system and fix a financial shortage in a trust fund used to pay disabled workers.
