An Oklahoma veteran of the Persian Gulf War relates to what American servicemen and women are experiencing in Afghanistan. Air Force Captain Gentner Drummond flew some 40 missions during Operation Desert Storm. He's now retired from the military.
Drummond says the US forces are so well prepared, he's confident the strikes hit their targets. The former F-15 fighter pilot says he can imagine what pilots thought about as they flew from the US to Afghanistan. "There is a long time for a warrior to think about, number one, am I prepared, physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually, what is my targeting, what is my mission, what is my country all about, and I'm sure the men and women who flew these missions also thought about the same thing."
Captain Drummond says patriotic support for the war is strong now. He says he's concerned about the resolve of the American people if the war lingers for many years.
