The goodness of Oklahomans continues to shine through the 'Spirit of Oklahoma Crisis Relief Fund.'
In three days, you've come by KOTV's studios and helped raise more than $135,000 for the Red Cross. You've also demonstrated your compassion for the victims of the Attack on America by filling the 'Spirit Fence' outside our studios with thoughts of love and concern. A number of you also stopped by Woodland Hills mall to hang items on the 'Spirit Fence' there.
Many people came by because they say they have some idea of the pain the folks on the east coast are feeling. "My daughter was in the hospital in Oklahoma City. For 8 weeks this summer and our whole family went through much trauma while we were there and I have a little tinny inkling of what these people are going through so we need to attach something to this fence." "We had a garage sale we want to share money because we lost our daddy back in November and we know what the people are going through." "My dad was a Claremore fireman that was killed in the line of duty in 1985 and I remember not so much then but now to hear the stories of the community if you ever need anything, I just kind of wanted to pass some of that back, yea."
Thursday evening Loomis-Fargo helped KOTV safely deliver the $100,000 to the Red Cross. If you'd like to donate to the 'Spirit of Oklahoma Crisis Relief Fund', you can come by our studios at 3rd and Frankfort again today. We also encourage you to bring your notes of sympathy and understanding to the 'Spirit Fence.'
