A Mexican national on Oklahoma's death row will not be executed. The State Court of Criminal Appeals has granted an indefinite stay of execution for Gerardo Valdez.
He was convicted of killing an Oklahoma City man in 1989. The ruling comes after two 30-day stays ordered by Governor Frank Keating. The court says the case presents a unique situation involving international law.
