A robbery suspect that has been terrorizing local convenience stores is now behind bars. But not before Tulsa Police had to shoot at his car several times during a chase in east Tulsa.
Investigators believe 34-year old Donald Wayne Johnson of Perryville, Arkansas robbed 12 convenience stores in East Tulsa, Claremore and Catoosa since late July. Officers had east Tulsa staked out and say they saw Johnson coming out of a convenience store that had just sounded its alarm. Tulsa Police officer Lucky Lamons: "He had a gun in his hands. They ordered him to stop, he fled. Officers started to shoot at him because he was a continual threat. He was armed with a weapon."
Police say it turned out Johnson was carrying a BB gun that looked like a nine-millimeter pistol. He was slightly injured by flying glass when police shot out his car's windows. No one else was hurt.
Tulsa Police say the three officers who fired the shots will not be suspended.
