The “CODE RED†computer worm is set to re-activate, causing major problems for Internet services providers, and anyone who surfs the Internet.
KOTV’s Tami Marler says this latest cyber terrorism attack is especially troubling to government and private computer security experts. Not because of what the worm can do to our home computers, but because of how it can burrow away at Internet service providers.
This worm is right up the alley of cyber-terrorist students at the University of Tulsa, where they're constantly researching both simulated and real viruses. Students say the "CODE RED" worm has been in hibernation for a few days now, but it will rear its ugly head again Tuesday evening, starting a whole new cycle of chaos.
It's important to note, home computers will be safe, unless they're set up to be a web server. However, you could have trouble getting on some of your favorite websites, until they're able to exterminate the worm.
