TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ The body of 14-year-old boy who drowned in the swift water in Lake Hudson has been recovered, authorities said.

Charles Pevehouse's body was discovered in 40 feet of water more than 500 yards from Saline Creek Bridge around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, officials said. Authorities dragged the area for three days.

Tommy Parker, the assistant chief of the Grand River Dam Lake Patrol, said Wednesday that the Salina boy, his brother, Roy Donavon Pevehouse, and friend Thomas Tindle walked to the bridge at about 6:15 p.m. from their homes nearby.

The brothers went into the swift current, attempting to swim to the bridge-support columns. Donavon Pevehouse was barely able to make it across the creek to the bank, Parker said.

When Charles Pevehouse began swimming across, he was swept away by the current. Parker said the other boys couldn't have done anything to save him.

In a separate drowning, officials recovered the body of a man who drowned Tuesday while swimming in Lake Texoma.

Ryan Donald Webster, 21, had been swimming near a boat ramp at the lake's Catfish Bay area, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. A witness said Webster had gone under water several times and eventually did not come up again.

Four boats dragged the area, but underwater brush and debris hindered their efforts to find the body, the patrol reported.

The search resumed Wednesday morning, and the Lake Patrol's dive team recovered the body about 8:45 a.m.
