Thursday was Flag Day. Flag Day was first observed June 14th, 1861 to show support for the Union during the early days of the Civil War. Flags were flying throughout Tulsa.
Thursday morning, two Tulsa Marines changed the flag at the Spirit Bank building. It was during a memorial service in Tulsa honoring eight Marines who died in the Korean War. This is the 50th anniversary of the Korean conflict. Veterans say this is the first time the eight Tulsa Marines have been honored in a ceremony.
The American Veteran's Association changes the flag at the bank building every year and donates it to an organization that needs a flag.
