(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma County presiding judge Dan Owens has been charged with two misdemeanors, including driving under the influence.
Owens was charged yesterday with one count of DUI and one count of transporting a loaded firearm -- a .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol -- in a motor vehicle.
Owens was arrested by Oklahoma City police on December 12th. Police were called to the scene after Owens' sport utility vehicle struck the side of a tractor-trailer that was stopped at a stop sign.
Prosecutors from the office of District Attorney Robert L. Hudson, prosecutor for Payne and Logan counties, are handling the case.
Hudson was appointed to the case after Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane asked to be disqualified.
