Muskogee and Wagoner counties turned to "cable" to pick up the slack in their school budgets.

The "Put Your Money where your Mouth Is" telethon took center stage at Muskogee High School. The 24-hour fundraiser was broadcast on the local Cox Cable system. More than 250 volunteers answered phones and provided entertainment.

More than $49,000 was raised, with the phones still ringing when the cameras were turned off.
