(Hominy-AP) -- Hominy's downtown grocery has been burned to the ground so the town can have room for a new supermarket.
Two Indian-themed murals went up in smoke along with the store but the artist who painted them says he can accept the loss. Cha Tullis says his hometown was what inspired the wall paintings and if they caused someone to invest in Hominy they served their purpose.
Tullis has painted more than 30 murals around town in the last 12 years. He says he spent about 150 hours painting each of the murals that were destroyed today.
City Manager Tex Bayouth says some may be sentimental over the murals' loss but says residents should also remember the town is getting a store almost three times as large as the original.
