Tulsa Police are looking into complaints that a Tulsa library book is offensive.
A man alerted police about a book that contained a graphic picture. The book is about radical social movements, but a picture in the book shows two men engaged in a sex act.
The Tulsa Library system has a plan in place for those concerned about questionable books. According to Laurie Sundborg with the library, it begins with filling out what's called a "reconsideration request." "We establish a committee who reviews it and reads it and at that point, comes back together independently and they do this investigation, and then we make a decision on what we're going to do with the material."
Tulsa Police have contacted the library system about the book in question. A committee will now read the entire work and will consider whether to remove it.
If you find a book at any branch in the Tulsa Public Library System that you think is objectionable, you can get a "reconsideration request" at any library branch.
