(Newcastle-AP) -- An 84-year-old man is in fair condition at an Oklahoma City hospital after his plane crashed near a creek in Newcastle Thursday morning.

Newcastle police say a small, single-passenger plane went down.

A witness says he saw the plane climb about 200 feet in the air before he heard two pops and then heard the engine quit.

The pilot fractured both hands and had a slight head injury.
