There's some good news for Oklahoma children. Monday, the Oklahoma Caring Van celebrated 10,000 statewide immunizations.
The Caring Foundation recognized 16 local child care facilities, the state health department and the city-county health departments for improving the health of Oklahoma children. The foundation also announced plans for a second "Caring Van" to give even more free immunizations to kids in the Tulsa area.
Dr Leslie Beitsch says it’s an important step in keeping Oklahoma's kids healthy. "There's so many things we need to do in Oklahoma from a prevention standpoint to make our kids healthier. They're the future of our state - everybody knows that. Its time we made a statewide commitment to them just like we are in education."
The new Caring Van will be the Caring Foundation's fourth mobile immunization center.
