(Miami, Oklahoma-AP) -- Drug task force officers in northeast Oklahoma have found an illegal dump site near Picher that was created during the making of methamphetamine.
Ottawa County Sheriff Dennis King says the dump in an abandoned mine shaft was found while officers were trying to talk to a man suspected of trafficking in meth.
King says one person was questioned about the dump, but he says any charges will be filed in federal court because the land is allotted to the Quapaw Tribe.
Cleanup of the dump is being handled by the Environmental Protection Agency.
