Their team is considered the underdog this weekend, but OSU fans already have a huge victory.

That’s right, the game "is" going to be carried on Cox Cable after all. News on Six business reporter Steve Berg says in case anyone out there missed the firestorm of controversy, Cox Cable announced Wednesday that it was "not" going to televise the OSU-Texas game in the Tulsa region. Needless to say, that riled up the estimated 16,000 Cowboy alumni in the Tulsa area. Especially when they heard the game "would" be carried in Oklahoma City and Stillwater.

Cox blamed Fox, as in Fox Sports Southwest, which they say is imposing a "hefty" surcharge to carry the game. So they say they decided to focus on the college markets. After the uproar though, they reconsidered, and Thursday afternoon, they reached a deal with Fox.

Unfortunately, it all comes too late for some fans like Jason Earnheart of Tulsa, who cancelled his cable Thursday, and signed up for a satellite dish. "It's TV but they've shown that their respect for our dollar. There's a lot of people that hold Oklahoma State very dear and I'm one of them and they've showed me where I rank to them, and I hope that all OSU fans feel the same way."

The deal actually includes seven Big 12 games on Fox Sports Southwest. We talked with John Bowen, the local manager for Cox Cable. He did not disclose the terms of the deal. But he says he's just thankful that it all worked out.
