(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The number of people killed on Oklahoma roadways was down in August, but up for the year.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 62 people died in traffic accidents during August this year, down from 67 during the same month in 2001.

Overall, 485 people have died in crashes so far this year, up from 450 at the same time a year ago.
