(McAlester-AP) -- Officials in McAlester are trying to gather more information about human remains found in Pittsburg County.

Pittsburg County undersheriff DG Stonecipher says officials haven't been able to determine if the body is male or female.

Stonecipher says the remains were found near Mud Creek Road about 3 p-m Saturday.

He says the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
